Under the guidance of lead costume designer, Kristine Doiel, we were able to create vibrant Cholo-inspired design whilst integrating the ancient Aztec ancestry that is referenced throughout Luis Alfaro's play, Electricidad. As an assistant costume designer, I was tasked with researching the methodology behind Cholo culture and style, assisted in the application of the ancestral designs using stencil work, and aided in authenticating our references of both Aztec and Cholo culture of East Los Angeles.
